Game-changing Mama Beauty Products

I’ve never been very good at this hair and beauty thing, it’s not something which came naturally to me as a teenager, or through my college years. After having my son, I felt it became more important to appear to the outside world that I had it all together, and so I started to focus on my appearance more. As any mother knows, a baby/toddler can wreak havoc on the amount of solo time you’ve got – going to the bathroom alone is considered a luxury so spending an hour on hair and beauty isn’t exactly an option. However, I’ve discovered a few products in the last while which have been game changers – quick, easy and effective – what more could you want?

Tangle Teezer

I am late to the game with this one. I know. I’d heard all about the hype, a close friend used the term game changer but I stayed away until I spotted them on offer on Amazon last week. Oh wow, I was missing out. My hair in the mornings is a bit ridiculous but this calms it instantly and without pulling the head off me – exactly what you want when a toddler is calling your name every six seconds and pulling your hands and legs towards whatever food source they want next.

Babyliss Curl Secret

I’d eyed this up for months before the lovely other half got it for me for Christmas – despite loving my hair curly, it was a serious task to do – and worse to make it stay. I tried straighteners, curling irons, curly blow dries – nope, nope, nope. This however is foolproof – aside from one incident of hair getting stuck due to wrong technique – I’ve managed to get perfect wavy curls in no time that last for ages. All of the beauty of glamorous curls, none of the burns or frustration that go with other methods.

Rimmel Provocalips

I’ve raved about this beauty product before but it honestly can’t get enough credit. I’ve got multiple colours of this product, my current favourite being Berry Seductive, and it does. not. move. Amazing. Lasts all day with one or two gloss top ups and doesn’t come off on clothes, cups, toddlers… and it’s less than a tenner, and often in 3 for 2 deals in Boots. Can’t go wrong.

Batiste Dry Shampoo

An absolute essential for life as a busy mother, especially on those mornings where a rare sleeping-past-the-alarm means that there’s no time for the shower before creche drop off, but you want to make sure your hair is looking like you did. It also smells amazing and adds volume, which I love. I like the travel sized versions as they’re easy to pop into my bag and go. While I’ve used other brands before, this one actually works for longer than an hour!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer

I’ve looked high and low and I’ve not yet found anything that beats this for the industrial strength hiding of eye bags after sleepless nights and the odd spot caused by comfort eating when I want to pack it all in. It lasts ages, blends in perfectly, doesn’t look caked on and can be paired with a much less full-on coverage foundation without looking out of place. Love. It.
