Another month gone by. Another first day of the month where I resolve that this is going to be the one where I give up the chocolate biscuit habit (oops), take up jogging (I’ve an excuse for this I swear!) and go to bed at a reasonable hour. That means it is now March, which is a special month for a number of reasons. It’s the month my parents got married, so kudos to them, means I’m here doesn’t it? It’s also the month that I gave birth last year. Oh yes, my little man is going to be a year old. A full year. Wow.
There’s a lot going on – heres just the things I’m looking forward to most…
Netflix Stream Team RoadTrip to the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Premiere
I feel extremely lucky this week, as myself and a number of other bloggers have been selected to go to a Netflix Premiere of their newest show, produced by the brilliant Tina Fey, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. As if that wasn’t good enough, the premiere isn’t exactly taking place in the parish hall; oh no, we’re off to London for the day! It’s going to be a hella long day (setting my alarm for 5am now for a 5.30am airport bus) but it looks to be amazing and is exactly the kind of pick me up I needed at the moment. The best part is that it was on one of my days off work so there wasn’t even any complication there – fate kind of fell into place!
The show itself looks really funny from the trailer – based around Kimmy, who has spent the last 15 years in a bunker with other members of a Doomsday cult, only to come out and find that not only has the world ended, but its bright and sunny and filled with other challenges. Kimmy, however, as the title suggests is full of an unbreakable spirit, and decides the only thing for it is to move to New York as a fresh start. I do believe this makes her the embodiment of the phrase “Go big or go home” – and it makes for a cracking story by the looks of things. It airs on Netflix from March 6th, and I can’t wait to see it on Wednesday (March 4th). I promise no spoilers!
Ah yes, see, you’ve been warned now, no chance to forget. I spent my very first Mothers Day last year in a state of shock – it was my first full day home from the hospital, my child had slept for very little of the night before and there were no nurses to ensure that we didn’t break him or to come around with regular painkillers. This year, thankfully, I won’t be busy recovering from major abdominal surgery and adjusting to sleep deprivation. I live in hope that my little darling will treat me to a full nights sleep (oh what a fantasy land I live in), or at the very least, duplicate his efforts of last year with breakfast in bed. In the meantime, I’m working on a little something for Mothers Day which I’ll put up here when its done – something to treat the Mammy (or any mother figure) in your life which is simple, thoughtful and generally very happily received. No colouring in required (but can be put in, if one wishes).
St Patricks Day
Ah, the day of celebrating our Nations Catholicism, in giving the wrong man the credit for the job. Poor old Palladius. He really didn’t do well out of that whole bargain. In the mean time let us celebrate the wrong man by wearing dodgy Penneys green outfits (some of them are far too dodgy for any sane person to be fair), standing in the freezing cold watching scout group after dancing group after vintage car go by, and winding up in the pub. Ah, nationalism. As this will be the first St Patricks Day for E, I will resist temptation to dress him in something like this
and will hopefully get to attend some form of a parade. Maybe. I think I may be safer away from the pubs…
Irish Parenting Blog Awards
This has been something I’ve been looking forward to for a while, if you follow me on social media (and if you don’t, you should, here and here) you may have seen me posting about it and using the tag #ipbawards – what is it you say? Well, since the Irish Blog Awards is no more (RIP), the wonderful people at the Irish Parenting Bloggers put their heads together and are planning an incredible awards night for the first ever (but hopefully not the last) Irish Parenting Blog Awards, which will be on in Odessa at the end of April. There are some amazing sponsors – Glenisk, Blacknight, Superhands and many more! I’ve got my tickets sorted and am super excited. So whats this got to do with March, you say? Well, to have any hope of having my name called out among the list of brilliant bloggers for many categories, I’ve got to be nominated. That is where you lot come in – if you read, and like what you read when you do – let them know. If you click here, you should be able to nominate bloggers for a number of different categories (I’m secretly a little bit sickened that I’m just barely over the line for Best Newcomer, but there are so many more amazing newbie blogs that are there!), and hopefully you’ll give my name a click for one or more! Nominations are open until the end of March but don’t let that slow you down, just let it give you opportunity to tell everyone you know!
E’s first Birthday
The highlight of my calendar; we shall celebrate the end of the 35 hour long ordeal which was induced labour and the introduction of proper sleep deprivation and the love of my life to the world. He’s now a crawling, climbing, eats-everything-he-finds kinda guy, who can get away with anything when he looks at you with his big brown eyes and smiles. I can not believe its already been a year, the phrase is very true, the days are long but the years are short.
What are you up to this March?

As a member of the Netflix Ireland Stream Team I have received a complimentary one year Netflix membership along with an Apple Tv. I will in turn be featuring Netflix related blog posts. All opinions are my own, and I was already subscribed to the service beforehand.
