What are your plans this weekend? Time with the family? Wrestling a toddler, or getting a newborn to sleep? Or will you take some time (five minutes even) for some me-time? It’s something that can definitely be neglected as a mama – we have a million and one jobs to do, and self care is put bottom of the list. There’s always another nappy, or another toy explosion, or the dishes, the school run…. We need to take a few minutes for us. As mums of small kids, it can be hard to be like the person you were before. There isn’t time for the full face of makeup, the well styled hair, before dashing out the door with a tantrumming child. Boots has apparently heard our plight, and is launching a special event for Mums this weekend.

So it’s been a while since my materialistic retail therapy side paid a visit to the blog, indeed since the contents of my makeup bag did. January was a fairly, let’s say, sparse month for new things but between a payday flurry at the end of the month (who lets me loose in Boots??) and some stuff I got for Christmas but waited to try out, there have been some new additions crying out for attention. Winter Wardrobe Favourites, Baby Edition Christmas 2014
I’m a terrible woman for buying baby clothes. They’re small and cute and to be fair, a necessary evil given how fast he’s growing out of them lately – my tiny 5lb baby who premie clothes were too big for is now fitting into 9-12 month jeans, how did that happen? Given the recent growth spurt, I made the most of a Christmas shopping trip over the weekend to stock up on some new bits for E that I couldn’t resist. Read More
Searching, a Tale of Retail Therapy.
I’m on the hunt for two things in life at the moment – well, three, but overall the meaning of life is eluding me, so we’re going to have to generalise it to two things – boots and lipstick. Which makes me sound awfully materialistic, but the way I’m looking at it is that I’m more of a realist. I’m not going to a) lose 3 stone overnight and have the figure of a woman who has not had a baby in the last year, b) win the Euromillions and be able to throw caution to the wind and do things on a whim or c) wake up in the morning and realise what my life purpose is.
So. Boots and Lipstick it is. Read More
Happy Bits of The Week

It’s been a quiet enough week here, thanks to lack of broadband (and internet access for the most part – rural Wexford and E Mobile are not friends, its like reverting to the land God forgot). It’s been really nice, a break away from the city for a week, to recharge the batteries, and having E spoilt rotten by every person we come across. He’s been a bit of a teething mess this week, poor little pet. Still no sign of any white dots, just a poor frustrated mite who is going to dissolve the skin on his hands soon from all the chewing (Sophie la Girafe gets hugs, not chews, he prefers his fists it seems).
