Dressing Dapper This December – Toddler Boy Clothes Edition

As the carrier-arounder and main wardrobe consultant of a 20 month old, I find myself perusing the aisles of clothes shops these days mostly in the kids section – nothing there will make me feel bad about my own body, and the vast majority of it is so damn cute. I’m a demon for picking up little bits and going “Ah yeah sure of course he needs a¬†millionth jumper, sure isn’t there a few euros off, it would be CRIMINAL to leave it there”, despite knowing he has an overflowing wardrobe thanks to this shopping habit and the generosity of friends and family who have kindly donated a hefty stylish wardrobe that will have the child dressed until he’s starting school. With that in mind, I have made the conscious decision to stick to the more economical brands – sadly this kicks Next off my Christmas list (see you in the sales, maybe) and a few others but the alternatives really do make up for such losses. Shh, look at the pretty tiny clothes…

Dressing Dapper for December - Toddler Boy Style Winter 2015

Absolute disclaimer; these are not things that are currently in my wardrobe (sigh), nor are they things I’ve been sponsored or bribed to say are wonderful (though if anyone is interested, feel free to contact me), I merely have a habit of staring at the gorgeous toddler clothes and mentally spending the entirety of my bank account on clothes he will outgrow within weeks. This sort of thing may work out slightly better on the old bank account. Maybe. (Perhaps I should hide the card for the rest of this post). (more…)

Winter Wardrobe Favourites, Baby Edition Christmas 2014

1.

I’m a terrible woman for buying baby clothes. They’re small and cute and to be fair, a necessary evil given how fast he’s growing out of them lately – my tiny 5lb baby who premie clothes were too big for is now fitting into 9-12 month jeans, how did that happen? Given the recent growth spurt, I made the most of a Christmas shopping trip over the weekend to stock up on some new bits for E that I couldn’t resist. (more…)

Loves of The Week

It is 5am on a Sunday morning. Previously I only ever saw this hour from the other end, the tail end of a night out, with fried chicken and a cup of tea in front of me, heels thrown off beside the sofa and my pillow calling me for a rather long lovely lie in (or at least six or seven hours of straight sleep if I had work the following afternoon, thank you Sunday opening hours). Now there is no fried chicken, no cup of tea and a child bouncing in an exersaucer pressing on the keys of the keyboard and questioning why he can’t do his remix of Old MacDonald, Jingle Bells and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on a loop like he has been for the last week. Mammy needed her off button. It can work again when the sun is awake. (more…)

Another Week, another happy story.

This week has been one of those where I keep telling myself I should sit down and write, but each time I do it, E starts screaming. We are well and truly teething but not a sign of any white dots yet – not sure how much more of this can be taken without seeing progress. The poor little mite has taken to giving Sophie la Girafe hugs while he gnaws on his fists, bubbling at the mouth, dribble bib an eternal fixture. (more…)

The War Against Mammy

Image

My little fella is finally growing into normal, non premature baby, clothes sizes. Which gives us a lot more choice thankfully, because as cute as the tiny dungarees we got in Tesco were, after 8 weeks we were getting a little tired of the same four outfits! I’ve become one of those people who finds it difficult to walk past the baby section in any clothes shop, or Tesco, without picking up a little top, or dungarees, or cardigan (I really need to stop with the super cute cardigans, we are not getting cold enough weather for the gorgeous tiny things I pick up!). In my quest to fill my sons life with the cutest of the cute clothes that now finally fit him, I’ve discovered a prejudice against Mammy.¬† (more…)
