When E was born, I was keeping an open mind when it came to breastfeeding. I’d told myself it wasn’t a big deal if I wasn’t able to do it. However, I Â found it incredible to be able to feed my baby myself. From the beginning, E was fed using a mixture of boob feeds and pumped feeds. I was advised by medical staff in hospital that supplementing his milk would be necessary to up his weight. As much as possible, I wanted to stick to breast milk as I knew it was best for baby. So I pumped. I found it incredible to be able to see the liquid gold in front of me, and ensure my baby got the goodness. It also meant that his Daddy or grandparents could do a feed, while I got some well needed rest.
It’s that time of year again boys and girls, the evenings are getting darker, the days getting colder and the shops busier and more full of stressed out retail staff. People are giving out about “that Mariah Carey song playing AGAIN” while knowing that if nobody can hear them they’ll belt out a few bars along with the music. Best of all, mince pies and selection boxes are in the shops, so it’s time to forget about the “summer body” for the moment and chill out with some amazing eats and some fantastic viewing, holiday classics which were intended to be accompanied by lack of movement and yummy snacks. The Christmas lights are lit and Santa has arrived in shops around the country. So stick on Netflix, dig into your selection box and enjoy! Pass the mulled wine, won’t you? If you pass enough, you may even win the fantastic prize up for grabs at the end of this post!
I’ve been changing nappies on a daily basis for the last 16 months. I’ve become somewhat of an old hand at it, there are no more pee on the sofa incidents, and it becomes less of a two man job as each day passes. So, you’d wonder how after 16 months of dealing with changing nappies multiple times a day, how I would still forget to pack the basics in the bag. I’m in need of a one-stop-everything-in-one-place solution – I blame the sleep deprivation! (more…)
Since having E last year, I’ve bought a lot of baby bibs. For one thing, it took us a long time to figure out just how bad the staining was with sweet potato (never, ever ever use white bibs when your child is a messy eater), as well as sheer forgetfulness on my part to stick spare ones in the bag on our way out. The fact that they came in ridiculously cute designs merely added fuel to the fire, and sure “They’re only four euro”, the ever-lasting Penney’s trap, was at play at the same time. I’ve bought them in varying quality; some would be nearly considered disposable, others (the amazing wipe clean ones from Tommy Tippee) considered lifesavers and essential items. I’ve always had a soft spot for the multiple designs though, bandana bibs can truly make an outfit, they are full on baby accessories. So, when I got the chance to review some of the wonderful Funky Giraffe Bibs, I jumped at it. (more…)
If you follow me on Instagram* or are a long-time reader of this blog; you’ll know that over the last while I’ve grown a tiny little bit of an obsession with my nails. Mostly, in my case, fake nails, because I’ve a nervous tick of biting them and any attempt to kick this horrible habit hasn’t gone so well. What can I say, bit of a stressful year, but hey, that’s what the gorgeous false ones are for.
I’ve also recently been trying to spread the word about this blog, and all of it’s ramblings about nappies, PND and other such fun Mammy activities on different social media accounts, and I did mention a giveaway over the last few days. That time is now, so I’m combining my thanks to the lovely people who are reading my blog (new and old) and my obsession with pretty nails and having a nail product giveaway! These are all things I’ve picked up over the last while and stashed away as potential lovely bits to giveaway or use myself. I hope you like them! (more…)
