When life gets busy, trying to fit in time to sit down with my laptop to get a few posts out becomes more difficult. Such is life with a small tornado toddler, a full time job and an apartment that you’re trying to ensure doesn’t look like an explosion has just happened at all times… One solution I’ve come up with is to utilise my commute on the bus for blogging from my phone. While I’d done this a bit in the past, I had found that it was more cumbersome and less satisfying visually to do it this way. However, I’ve discovered new apps recently, and some have hit the app store that weren’t previously there, that have bridged the gap and made it so much easier and nicer to blog from my iPhone. Here are my 13 Essential iPhone Apps for Bloggers – and most, if not all, are free to boot. Hopefully you’ll find this list useful in your own blogging!
I’ve been writing this blog for nearly two years, and what has started initially as a hobby has become one of the major parts of my life now. Because of this, I am constantly looking for new ways to make it easier to get more done, preferably while doing other things (the work of a Mammy is never ever done!). Generally when you see me I’ll have my iPhone on me, it’s a bit like an extra body part, so meshing the two together generally makes sense and does then make up a lot of my blogging work. For example, my phone serves as my main camera, my notepad on the go, my tracker of stats and my main source of contacting other bloggers and people I work with for writing purposes. It’s also where I play my sudoku, but that’s another story.
It is 5am on a Sunday morning. Previously I only ever saw this hour from the other end, the tail end of a night out, with fried chicken and a cup of tea in front of me, heels thrown off beside the sofa and my pillow calling me for a rather long lovely lie in (or at least six or seven hours of straight sleep if I had work the following afternoon, thank you Sunday opening hours). Now there is no fried chicken, no cup of tea and a child bouncing in an exersaucer pressing on the keys of the keyboard and questioning why he can’t do his remix of Old MacDonald, Jingle Bells and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on a loop like he has been for the last week. Mammy needed her off button. It can work again when the sun is awake. (more…)
Once upon a time, I bought an Android phone, and declared it to be the most wonderful thing ever. I laughed at people with iPhones, called them sheep, including my lovely man friend, said they were unnecessary and overpriced and that mine did everything theirs did.
Then I started using an iPhone. For professional reasons. Of course. (more…)
My poor baby iPhone is currently sheltering in a bag of rice, trying its best (hopefully) to dry out. It decided to not heed the instructions and attempted to start an Olympic Diving career today, into a toilet. Of all places. It really is one of the most icky icky things in the world, knowing that you have to go grab it super quick, even though it was clean (as clean as a toilet can be), it really is one of those things that just horrifies me.
