In the run up to Christmas, it can be stressful to figure out just what kind of gifts will put a smile on different faces. Often, it can be useful to focus on a hobby or occupation that the person has when it comes to picking a gift, as it will be something they will use and cherish instead of abandon to the back of the cupboard. Bloggers are no different to this regard. So, if there’s a blogger in your life that you’re scrambling to get the perfect gift for, look no further. Here’s a gift guide to aid you in pleasing the blogger in your life this Christmas.

Why I Switched My Hosting To GoDaddy
I made the move, I took the plunge. I trusted that my blog wouldn’t break, and thankfully *touch wood* it’s still in one piece. I’ve managed to survive migrating from one host to another and have lived to tell the tale. For someone who doesn’t do the whole coding thing and found the backend part of moving to self hosting painful (at best), nobody is more shocked than me. So, why did I move? And why did I move to GoDaddy?
How To Embed Hidden Pinnable Pictures into your Blog Posts
I’ve been a bit slow to the Pinterest game when it comes to blogging. It’s taken me a while to get into the swing of it. I understood the basics – make sure pictures are bright, good quality, and linked to content you were proud of. I’ve been working a lot on developing a style for my images on my blog over the last two years. And unfortunately, the long-form style which Pinterest adores doesn’t do it for me. So, what’s a girl to do? I wanted to make my posts as Pinnable as possible without compromising the way I liked them to look. How did I do it?
13 Essential iPhone Apps for Bloggers
When life gets busy, trying to fit in time to sit down with my laptop to get a few posts out becomes more difficult. Such is life with a small tornado toddler, a full time job and an apartment that you’re trying to ensure doesn’t look like an explosion has just happened at all times… One solution I’ve come up with is to utilise my commute on the bus for blogging from my phone. While I’d done this a bit in the past, I had found that it was more cumbersome and less satisfying visually to do it this way. However, I’ve discovered new apps recently, and some have hit the app store that weren’t previously there, that have bridged the gap and made it so much easier and nicer to blog from my iPhone. Here are my 13 Essential iPhone Apps for Bloggers – and most, if not all, are free to boot. Hopefully you’ll find this list useful in your own blogging!
5 Parenting Bloggers You Shouldn’t Be Missing
They say that to become a better writer, you need to read constantly. Right now, much of my reading is online, as I’ve less time for actual book-reading. The things I search out are generally to do with my own circumstances, so parenting blogs feature heavily. As I love a good list post, here goes – five parenting bloggers that I think you should watch out for. These are bloggers who I follow religiously, whose posts make me laugh and cry and have all of the feels, and who have definitely paved my way in parenting and blogging about it in learning from their experiences. If you’ve not checked them out already, you’re definitely missing out and you have a lot of reading to do.
15 From ’15 – Roundup of the Year that was!
The very lovely Sadhbh from Where Wishes Come From has this year again obliged with kicking off the linky for a yearly roundup, this year aptly being 15 things from 2015. I took part in this last year, when it was 14 from 14 (see how this works?), and thought it was a brilliant idea so was thrilled to see it was happening again. It’s a really nice way to sum up the best bits of the year (with a couple of the not so wonderful bits thrown in to humanise me a bit!). Lots of my favourite bloggers are taking part too, you can check them all out by clicking the link at the end. It was one hell of a year for a great many reasons!
How To Make Gorgeous Blog Title Graphics
I’ve been blogging on this site nearly two years now and over that time it has been a steep learning curve; my initial posts were a bit all over the place, mostly without pictures or graphics, definitely no definitive brand, my posts weren’t at all professional looking. It’s taken a lot of time, pinterest-hours and learning as I went, but now I’m quite proud of my little corner of the internet. One of the things which I’ve begun to do in recent months to make my posts look more cohesive, to put my brand onto them, as it were, is to ensure I include Blog Title Graphics in each post. I find that not only does it make the post instantly more shareable, it also makes the presentation nicer.
In this post, I’m going to go through the Blog Title Graphic creation process, so that if you’re looking to change up your blog and do the same, hopefully you can gain some pointers. I’m not a professional by any stretch of the imagination, I have no graphic design qualifications or training, I’m just a girl learning as she goes along and hopefully improving day by day.
10 iOS Apps Every Blogger Should Have
I’ve been writing this blog for nearly two years, and what has started initially as a hobby has become one of the major parts of my life now. Because of this, I am constantly looking for new ways to make it easier to get more done, preferably while doing other things (the work of a Mammy is never ever done!). Generally when you see me I’ll have my iPhone on me, it’s a bit like an extra body part, so meshing the two together generally makes sense and does then make up a lot of my blogging work. For example, my phone serves as my main camera, my notepad on the go, my tracker of stats and my main source of contacting other bloggers and people I work with for writing purposes. It’s also where I play my sudoku, but that’s another story.
5 Blogging Tools Any New Blogger Should Start Using Today
Today I renewed my self-hosting subscription. Which means that today is one year from when I decided I was going to dedicate myself to this blog more than any other I’d written before (and there are so, so many abandoned blogs across the internet of mine..). It’s truly been a learning curve; I’ve discovered interests in things I never thought would appeal to me; things like graphic design, SEO, even just general social media mastery – as well as getting to practice and get out there doing the thing I love to do, write. Along the way I have discovered some rather fantastic blogging tools which have helped me turn my scribbles into something which I’m actually quite proud of, tools I feel would benefit anyone starting out blogging from a very basic stage like I was.
So without further ado, here are my Top Five Essential Blogging Tools.
